Pallet Rack Shipping Rates May Be Increasing – Significantly
On Monday, September 8, the Commodity Classification Standards Board (CCSB) will conduct a public meeting to consider proposals that could result in the reclassification of pallet rack from 60 to as high as 300. If it happens, the freight classification & cost could both go up significantly for pallet rack shipping. The classification & cost would be determined by the density of the rack based on the maximum length dimension.
Cost Prohibitive for Pallet Rack Transportation?
At current rates, pallet rack shipping costs are often a substantial expense. If the new proposal is approved, then these pallet rack shipping costs become even more burdensome to the customer & may make shipping some types of rack cost-prohibitive. Because of fluctuating freight rates & regulations, we designed FlexRack™ Pallet Rack to be as easy & affordable to ship as possible.
We will continue to look for opportunities to save money on pallet rack shipping no matter what the outcome of next week’s meeting is. The meeting will take place at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town Hotel, 1767 King Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314 at 2:00 ET on September 8. The hotel ‘s telephone number is 703-837-0440.
